For this residency, Amy brings a rotating cast of her favorite Latin musicians, presenting music from Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Cape Verde, and more. Tucked inside the hip and cozy Bistro Mariposa, with its delightful food and killer tequila menu, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the casino, and a perfect place to enjoy fine dining with warm, vibrant music. Not your average casino, the Monarch is known for its award-winning spa and gorgeous hotel rooms. Los Bohemios is known for its pan-Latin American repertoire, but for this special concert, we'll be taking listeners on a journey through the beautiful and very diverse regions of Mexico!

 

From the soulful rancheros of Jalisco to lively guapangos of Veracruz, from the Cuban-influenced trova Yucateca of the Yucatan peninsula to Mexican-influenced rock, and much more, it will be a celebratory evening of the rich diversity of Mexico. This is music that is rarely performed in the area, and we warmly invite you to be a part of the magic with us.

 

We are delighted to be partnering with Lone Hawk Farm, a working organic farm and an event venue nestled into the heart of Boulder County's agricultural community. The concert hall is breathtaking, and surrounded by organic gardens, orchards, vineyards, farm animals, and diverse wildlife.

Join us for an evening of California cool as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Michael Franks' seminal album, The Art of Tea. We’ll take you on a journey through the velvety landscapes of Franks' music, exploring his unique blend of jazz and pop; tasty melodies; quirky, poetic, and profound lyrics; and themes of the subtleties of love as only Franks could tell them.

In this intimate setting, we'll share our own interpretation of Franks' beloved 1975 album The Art of Tea in its entirety, along with other cherished favorites from Franks’ illustrious career.

Amy Biondo is a Lafayette-based vocalist, songwriter, and vocal coach whose rich, emotional, and playful vocals are a perfect match for the effortless elegance of Michael Franks’ work. Featuring special guest Charles Blenzig, who has been Franks’ musical director for the past 35 years! Rounding out the quintet will be Colorado all-stars Bill Kopper (guitar), Gonzalo Teppa (bass), and Raoul Rossiter (drums).

We are an acoustic ensemble playing traditional Cuban Son, Salsa, Cumbia, and Boleros; Mexican folklorica; and Latin Rock and Latin Jazz. Featuring Amy Biondo (vocals, percussion), Ricardo Peña (guitar, requinto, vocals), Bill Kopper (guitar), Mark Diamond (bass), and Leo Corona (percussion). Lush vocal harmonies, authentic instrumentation, and danceable rhythms will draw you into the richness and magic of Latin America.
